Founder & CEO, Flight Ready Academy
Today, Veronica Brown serves as the Founder and CEO of Flight Ready Academy, bringing over two decades of frontline and leadership experience in aviation. Since 1998, she has worked as a flight attendant for three major U.S. airlines—Champion Air (directly and in partnership with Northwest Airlines, now absorbed into Delta Air Lines), American Airlines, and United Airlines (via Mesa Airlines).
At Champion Air, Veronica played a pivotal role in advancing workplace representation. She introduced and represented the Teamsters Flight Attendant Union and also served as a representative on the Aviation Diversity Committee, ensuring that the voices of underrepresented groups were heard. She was an active member of the Safety Committee and Hiring Committee, and contributed as an interviewer, recruiter, mentor, and trainer. Throughout her career, she was offered several managerial and training positions, reflecting her expertise and leadership potential. Veronica also worked for two years with the City of Phoenix Aviation Department at Sky Harbor International Airport, further broadening her aviation background.
Beyond aviation, Veronica is an accomplished author and creative artist. Her upcoming memoir, INDISPUTABLE – An African American Flight Attendant Experience, will be released in Fall 2025. She is also the author of the children’s book God’s Big Ten: A Guide to Living Right.
Her early career included success as a solo gospel recording and performing artist, as well as global touring with the USO/DOD alongside the female vocal group The Preachers’ Daughters. In recognition of her contributions, she was awarded the Key to the City of Detroit and honored by the Detroit City Council.
Veronica’s career reflects a unique blend of aviation expertise, leadership, creativity, and cultural influence. At Flight Ready Academy, she channels all of these experiences to prepare and inspire the next generation of flight attendants, with a mission to make aviation careers more accessible, inclusive, and achievable.
